About Queensland Positive People
QPP is a peer-based advocacy organisation which is committed to actively promoting self-determination and empowerment for all people living with HIV (PLHIV) throughout Queensland. People shouldn’t have to deal with HIV their own. Many PLHIV face similar issues, so it makes sense to share these experiences. People get involved in peer support for different reasons: to meet other people with HIV to overcome feelings of isolation, to make friends. As individuals we can help each other to cope with the ups and downs of life with HIV.

QPP is developing a Community Capacity Building framework in order to develop and support HIV+ Self Help Groups in Queensland. Through our advocacy work we provide assistance to individual HIV+ people who have been discriminated against and/or denied appropriate services or support.

QPP provides a voice in the community about issues affecting people with HIV which include
evidence based health promotion programs specifically designed to meet the needs of HIV+ Queenslanders
regardless of geographical location or cultural background.

QPP maintains collaborative relationships with key Queensland Health units, Spiritus Positive Directions , Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC) and other relevant HIV support and prevention organisations.

QPP is a member organisation of National Association of People Living With HIV/AIDS NAPWA >>
